Kimberly Roberson-Hicks
“When I was diagnosed with ocular melanoma, Ashley McCrary reached out to me – even while she was fighting her own battle with OM. She immediately understood what I was facing and helped me make sense of a diagnosis I had never even heard of before.
As I learned more, I realized just how aggressive and brutal ocular melanoma can be, and how limited treatment options are, often requiring long-distance or out-of-state travel. Eye on Grace stepped in during a time when I truly needed guidance and support.
I had my first plaque radiation surgery on January 5, 2024. Just over two years later, on January 23, 2026, I underwent another surgery on the same eye to remove a cataract and laser the tumor again to prevent further growth. My doctor also cleaned up debris from the original radiation treatment. I now live with radiation retinopathy, a reminder that ocular melanoma is not a one-time event, but an ongoing medical journey filled with challenges.
Ashley and her husband, Dave, founded the Eye on Grace Foundation to help people like me travel to get the care we need, and they have stood by me every step of the way. Their generosity, guidance, and unwavering support mean more to me than I can ever express.”
