Judith Lagoe
Judith Lagoe’s ocular melanoma diagnosis was a surprise – and the disease progressed quickly. Thanks to your donations, we’ve been able to support Judith in her many trips for scans and treatment.
“I went to have cataract surgery in December 2024 and was stunned when my eye doctor found a tumor behind the cataract. I saw Dr. Carol Shields at Wills Eye Hospital and was diagnosed with uveal melanoma; I was told my eye could not be saved. On January 23, 2025, I had my right eye removed,” Judith says.
By April she learned the cancer had spread to her liver, and since then she’s undergone several MRIs and CT scans. In May 2026 she discovered the lesions were multiplying and had also spread into her spine. Because she didn’t qualify for clinical trials, she is currently undergoing chemoembolization and continues to manage the many medical and financial challenges this treatment brings.
“Eye on Grace has helped in a very real, practical way. Their travel grants allowed my husband or a family member to travel with me from home to Philadelphia for treatments – support that removed a logistical and emotional burden. Beyond the financial help, the encouragement from Eye on Grace has been a comfort; knowing people care makes this journey just a little easier. I’m deeply thankful to the donors and everyone at Eye on Grace for standing with me and my family during this difficult time.”
