“I was diagnosed with uveal melanoma in November 2025 at the age of 50. I was completely shocked; I had never even heard of this type of cancer. In December 2025, I received plaque radiation and was given a Stage 1B prognosis. At that time, my scans were clear, and we were hopeful about the future.

“In June 2026, however, a surveillance scan revealed several lesions on my liver. This came as another devastating shock, especially because of my earlier prognosis and the fact that my previous scans had been completely clear. My husband and I were frightened and overwhelmed by what would come next.

“I am now traveling to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center to participate in a clinical trial. Although I was not selected for the RP2 drug trial, I am currently receiving Opdivo (nivolumab) treatment and working closely with specialists who understand uveal melanoma.

“This journey has been incredibly stressful for my family and me. Thankfully, I have an amazing support system in my husband, family, and friends. The Eye on Grace Foundation has also been an enormous blessing. Their assistance has allowed me to seek out the best doctors and treatments without putting us in financial hardship.

“Because I live in a state without a medical oncologist who specializes in uveal melanoma, navigating this diagnosis and treatment has been frightening and overwhelming. Thanks to the Eye on Grace Foundation, I can travel to a world-renowned hospital and receive care from specialists with expertise in this rare cancer. Their support also allows my husband to accompany me, helping me stay focused on my goal of getting better.
