Darrell Peterson

Darrell Peterson was diagnosed with ocular melanoma in June of 2025, and in July, he traveled to the Mayo Clinic to receive plaque radiation surgery. Thankfully, he was able to retain his eye, though he’s still dealing with blurry vision and receiving eye injections.

Around the time of his surgery, he learned the cancer had already metastasized to his liver. He is now receiving Hepzato treatments at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Thankfully, the treatment seems to be helping.

“This journey has been an emotional roller coaster. When you’re dealing with a diagnosis like this, it can take over every moment of your day … appointments, travel, treatments, and the weight of everything you’re going through,” Darrell says.

“Eye on Grace has been an incredible source of support during this time. Their help with travel, lodging, and simply navigating this process has been a little bit of sunshine during a very difficult journey. They’ve helped ease my stress in ways that truly make a difference.

“I’m deeply grateful to Eye on Grace and to the donors who make this support possible. Your generosity helps make a hard road a little easier,” he says.

Darrell is also happy to connect with others who may be facing liver metastasis from ocular melanoma. He’s been speaking with people across the country who are dealing with the same disease, and they’ve become a kind of fraternity, supporting one another through these trying times. If sharing his experience can help someone else, he’s glad to do it.
